Contenders of the P3.5 million ICTSI Tournament Players’ Championship displayed remarkable skills on the narrow fairways of Southlinks Golf Club as the series finale takes place in Las Piñas. The clash of irons lasted for 4 days where roughly 75 players exhibited moments of unreal precision game and sterling technique on the 7,002-yard course. The PGT event has garnered an incredible roster of players including last month’s Canlubang winner, Clyde Mondilla, and Zanie Boy Gialon who won the ICTSI Royal Northwoods held last September.
Amidst the tension in the air, Mars Pucay delivered the coupe de grâce with an exceptional eagle-spiked five-under 67 bagging the number 1 spot in the competition. Tallying of player scores resulted to Pucay’s winning numbers at 8-under for 73, 68, 72, 67 / 280. Ending with a tight finish, the athlete dominated the playing field which earned him the title of being the 4-day tourney victor with a 4-shot romp over pro golfer, Jun Rates.
Coming in 2nd place is veteran golfer, Jun Rates, having a record of 71, 74, 68, 71, and 4-under par overall for a 284. At third place are adroit athletes, Elmer Saban, Ferdie Aunzo, and Mhark Fernando who finished the match with a 2-under par 286. Nonetheless, the final leg of the 16-stage ICTSI Philippine Golf Tour Tournament proved to be a thrilling battle royale and a showcase of golf mastery, flawless playing style, and resolute yet cordial sportsmanship.
